YAR pg 17

So much for the new schedule, huh?

This page kinda kicked me in the balls. I would say something with fewer expletives, but I don’t think that would do it much justice.

When I started, I thought to myself “Gee, the seagulls are easy to draw, and I was planning on leaving the mid section less defined! This is the perfect time to practice painting!”

I don’t think I need to stipulate that it was not the perfect time to practice painting.

All complaints about my lack of speed aside, it was a fun page. I’d initially wanted to rely on rendering alone for the paint sections, but that just seemed like too much of a difference, and so I ended up delineating the gulls in blue and yellow.

It worked a lot more elegantly than I thought it would.

In fact, I’m sorta tempted to use that more.

Anyway, I’ll do my best to get on the ball this week.

Now I’m going to work on something that’s not a comic.

‘Till next time, all!

Sketches, wot wot!

And thus do we have more sketches!

On the first one, I was doodling in vain. I started on a bat, and somehow the notion of bat-as-bullet came up.

It’s an interesting idea, but you might be arrested if you acted on it.

The second one, well, I warned you guys before that I draw these guys a lot.

But I got my hands on a fountain pen, and that sort of changed my process up.

Been working more on the next page, and it’s coming together, but only ever-so-slowly. In fact, I’d better get back to it.

‘Till next time!
